The Brilliant Week in Sports: June 5, 2009

June 5th, 2009 · No Comments · Oldies But Goodies

SATURDAY – LeBron James and the Cavs are ousted from the playoffs ringless yet again.  Leaving millions around the world, especially this dog, puzzled and wondering if LeBron will leave Cleveland in 2010.  Really, how could you leave that beautiful city?  Seriously though, Cleveland rocks.

SUNDAY – Rafael Nadal, the King of Clay, loses in the 4th round of the French Open in his bid for a fifth straight title.  Remember clay?  Don’t you just wish you had a giant ball of clay right now?

MON: Hey cuties

Hey cuties

MONDAY – All over the world, sexy garels play beach volleyball on beaches you didn’t even knew existed.  Name the Garels is still PRO women’s beach volleyball.

TUESDAY – Apparently the Stanley Cup is being held somewhere.  The red team and the black team are now tied 2 games to 2… Stanley Cup = hockey.

WEDNESDAY – Rampant steroid user Sammy Sosa announces his retirement from baseball.  Sosa, now 64 years old, played his last MLB game in 2007 – we thought you actually had to be doing something to “retire” from it, no?

THURSDAYRandy Johnson notches his 300th career MLB win against the lowly Washington Nationals.  The Big Unit’s career began in 1988, over that same 21-year span the entire Nationals’ franchise has a total of 47 wins.

FRIDAYThe Hangover opens tonight nationwide; the movie features a cameo from former boxer and rapist Mike Tyson.  We haven’t been this excited to see Tyson since his short stint in the WWF in 1998.

Clemens on Being Injected: “That’s What She Said”

May 12th, 2009 · No Comments · Oldies But Goodies

"That's what she said, your honor."

"That's what she said, Your Honor."

NEW YORK – In his first public comments in more than a year, Roger Clemens was interviewed on ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike in the Morning this morning and stood by his denial that former personal trainer Brian McNamee injected him with performance-enhancing drugs.  When asked if McNamee “injected him,” Clemens giggled and added,  “That’s what she said.” Following a 10-second awkward pause, radio host Mike Greenberg tried to continue the interview on a serious tone but was unable to as Clemens was quick to quip his new apparent favorite The Office one-liner at inappropriate, often confusing times.  When asked “If you had the chance, would you do it all over again?” Clemens quickly responded, “That’s what she said.”  Closing out the interview, Greenberg noted “You realize the seriousness of the charges being held against you, right?”—sure enough, Clemens giddily returned with “That’s what she said.”

Clemens’ broken silence is largely due to the official release of the book, American Icon: The Fall of Roger Clemens and the Rise of Steroids in America’s Pastime.  However, Clemens is not worried as his new book hits stores next week.  The title?  As Big as it Gets: That’s What She Said.
